nanu

It's so beautiful to see you
walking around discovering nooks.and crannies
in a home you have called your own for years.
To see you find a snug little corner
in the wide never ending expanse of this pigeonhole,
a square foot is a square foot is an acre,
when one looks through your eyes.

As you scratch and scratch at this unyielding surface,
you never give up
you never learnt to.
you don't learn like i do,
from the others around me.
You don't imitate,
you know what you know
and you have known for centuries.

You learn to develop habits
suited to my tastes
 but you don't learn knowledge
that was passed on to you.
As you sit all snuggled up,
in a corner you dug out of concrete
I admire your apparent inability to learn.

Learning is not always intelligent.
Learning is not always knowledge.
I learnt to be a woman.
I learnt to be middle class.
I learnt my majoritarian values.
 you know to be you,
 no matter what you learn
 you know to be you
no matter how much we teach you
 to be nanu

A great big bhalu hug

A great big bhalu hug
That's what I need
A great big bhalu hug
That makes me feel
Like all's good again
Like nothing in the world could hurt me
That there's an end to the pain
Like I'll never feel this way again

A bhalu hug
To surround me
To make me feel whole
To make me feel safe
A great big bhalu hug
For without you I'm cold
This world's a scary place

A great big bhalu hug
With your face looking down at me
Radiating warmth and comfort
Cause you'd never let me face this world alone
You'd never be gone
Leave me to wipe my own tears
To face my fears
All alone

A great big bhalu hug
Just for old times sake
For I need you today
To make the world a better place
And without you it's hard
Just one last time
A great big bhalu hug

Why I continue to look at that face?

Why I continue to look at that face?

Why must I look at this face
Day after day
Why must I cause myself such pain
Why must I look at him
Day in day out
It's surely a bit insane.
Why must I look at this picture again and again and again

Because I remember how that forehead crinkled in concentration
How those eyebrows met at a plane
Those pretty little chinky eyes on me
As I pushed that damned camera away
The squishy little nose and those big dumbo ears:)
The softest pout my lips ever touched
And that great big bhalu hair

Try as I might I cannot forget these
Nor how they felt to my touch
His shadow lingers about me
It's all a bit too much

And hardest of all his smell in the air
It brings me the most pain
For I can remember all these things, and some more, clearly
And then I'm afraid I won't.

Tattered old Tshirt

Tattered old T-shirt

I found a hole today
In a Tshirt that once belonged to you
It's changed many hands now
Uncaringly passed among friends
It's worn and tired
And ready to retire
But it can't
Not yet
For who will fill its place?

There is nobody who could replace
And it must continue
Till it can't no more
Your tattered old Tshirt
That you once wore
Years ago

It seems like another lifetime
When you were thin as a rail
Just a young innocent boy
With big jumbo ears and that chinky smile
You've been gone now for quite a while
And all that remains
Is this tattered old Tshirt
